Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely across all eight divisions of Bangladesh over the next 48 hours, with moderately heavy rainfall possible in some areas.

Day and night temperatures across the country may rise slightly over the next two days, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The forecast, issued on Friday, October 9, covers the subsequent 48 hours. Meteorologist Dr Md Omar Faruk provided the forecast.

According to the BMD, scattered rain or thundershowers may occur in some areas of Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions and at one or two places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in the 24 hours from 6pm on Friday.

During the following 24 hours from 6pm on Saturday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, may occur at one or two places across all eight divisions.

The weather office also said the southwest monsoon had withdrawn from Bangladesh. A low-pressure area may form over the southeastern Bay of Bengal by October 13.

Meanwhile, Satkhira recorded the country’s highest rainfall of 45mm in the 24 hours until Friday.

The highest temperature was recorded at 33.5 degrees Celsius in Rangamati and Kutubdia, while Tetulia recorded the lowest temperature at 20.5 degrees Celsius.
