
The deceased were identified as Lamia, 13, and her younger sister Sultana, 10, daughters of Nisar Ali of Dakkhinpara in Jamdia village, and their neighbour Fahima, 9, daughter of Ashik.
Lamia was a Class-VI student at Jamdia Secondary School, while Sultana and Fahima were Class-IV and Class-III students, respectively, at Jamdia Government Primary School.
According to family members, the three girls went to the nearby Ekram Molla pond to bathe around noon as their schools were closed.
They drowned while bathing in the pond.
When the girls did not return home for some time, their families began searching for them and later recovered their bodies from the pond, reports BSS.
Officer-in-Charge of Bagherpara Police Station Mohammad Shahjalal Alam said an unnatural death case was filed over the incident.
