Dhaka, Oct 3 —MG Bangladesh has launched the all-new MG S9 PHEV, positioning it as the country’s largest seven-seater plug-in hybrid SUV, with more than 100 km of electric driving range and a total driving capability of over 1,000 km.
The announced was made at its office in Dhaka on Saturday.
The SUV is designed for families seeking a vehicle for both daily commuting and long-distance travel, combining a three-row cabin with electric driving capability and a petrol engine for longer journeys.
Powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, an electric motor and a 24.7 kWh battery, the MG S9 PHEV can travel more than 100 km on electric power alone, according to the company.
MG Bangladesh said the vehicle can cover more than 1,000 km with a full battery charge and a full tank of fuel, offering greater flexibility for long-distance travel.
The S9 measures 4,983 mm in length and has a 2,915 mm wheelbase. Its second and third rows can be folded to increase luggage capacity to 2,093 litres.
The SUV has a minimum ground clearance of 190 mm and comes with features including a panoramic opening sunroof, massaging front seats, tri-zone climate control, ambient lighting and a smart power tailgate.
Its cabin features dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
The vehicle also comes with MG Auto Pilot and an advanced driver assistance system, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert. A 360-degree HD parking camera is also available.
“Bangladeshi families often rely on one SUV for both daily travel and longer journeys. The MG S9 PHEV answers that need with a spacious cabin, a larger electric range suited to everyday use, and the flexibility of a petrol engine when the journey goes farther. We are pleased to bring this new option to the market,” said Hussain Mashnoor Chowdhury, chief executive officer of MG Bangladesh.
Imran Zaman Khan, divisional director of MG Bangladesh, said the S9 PHEV offers space, technology and improved fuel efficiency in the seven-seat SUV segment.
The MG S9 PHEV is priced at Tk 63.9 lakh as an introductory price for the first 100 units, while its regular price is Tk 64.9 lakh.
Each vehicle comes with two complimentary 11 kW home charging stations as part of the package. The company is also offering an eight-year warranty.
