Three motorcyclists were killed and six others were injured in a three-way collision involving two motorcycles and a three-wheeler human hauler ('Nosimon') on the Signboard-Bogi regional highway in Morrelganj upazila of Bagerhat on Saturday evening.

The deceased were identified as Limon Molla, 24, son of Babul Molla from the Kalikabari area; Md. Amin Khan, 23, son of Nazrul Islam; and Soheb, 16, son of Jamal Master, both residents of Dona village in the same upazila. Limon and Soheb were students, while Amin Khan was a local grocer, police said.

Md. Shahidullah, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Morrelganj Police Station, said a coconut-laden three-wheeler was heading toward Bagerhat from Morrelganj Ghat when a speeding motorcycle coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with it. Two riders died on the spot, while the third succumbed to his injuries on the way to the health complex.

Moments later, a second motorcycle crashed into the overturned Nosimon and the first motorcycle, injuring six others.

Dr. Md. Sifat Khan, Acting Morrelganj Upazila Health Officer, said nine people were brought to the health complex following the accident, three of whom were dead on arrival. Among the injured, two were referred to the Khulna Medical College Hospital, while four returned home after receiving primary treatment, reports UNB.

Police seized both motorcycles and the Nosimon, though the driver of the three-wheeler fled the scene. The process of handing over the bodies to their families following legal formalities is underway, OC Shahidullah added.
