Patuakhali, Apr 6 (UNB) – A 25-year-old pregnant woman died allegedly due to medical negligence during a cesarean operation at a private clinic in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali on Saturday evening.

The deceased was identified as Tamanna Begum, wife of Rowshan Matbor of Golbunia village under Champapur union.

According to the victim’s family, Tamanna was taken to Kuakata Clinic and Diagnostic Centre on Saturday evening, although 15 days remained before her expected delivery date.

They alleged that the clinic authorities rushed her into surgery for a C-section without properly assessing her condition or ensuring the availability of required blood supplies.

Physicians Partha Sammadder and Muntaha Mariam Mitu conducted the operation, during which Tamanna gave birth to a baby girl.

She, however, reportedly began to suffer from excessive bleeding following the surgery. The doctors then referred her to Barishal for advanced treatment.

The patient's condition deteriorated on the way to Barishal.

Family members contacted the doctors, who advised them to take her to the nearby Amtali Upazila Health Complex. Upon arrival there, physicians declared her dead.
