Bangladesh and Nepal are co-hosting the 15th Asian Regional Conference (ARC) of the International Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment (IAEG) in Kathmandu from November 27–29, spotlighting the role of geological engineering in societal and sustainable development.

Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Nepal, Md Shafiqur Rahman, attended the inaugural ceremony as guest of honour, while Nepal’s Minister for Physical Planning, Transport, Energy, Irrigation, and Urban Development, Dr Kulman Ghising, presided as chief guest.

Themed “Geological Engineering for Societal and Sustainable Development,” the conference brings together experts, scholars, and practitioners to discuss advances in engineering geology, environmental resilience, and sustainable infrastructure across Asia.

Around 40 scholars, scientists, and professionals from various Bangladeshi institutions are participating, reflecting the country’s growing role in regional scientific collaboration.
