August 7, 2026 - CPJ is renewing its demands for immediate accountability for the killing of Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil. This follows an Amnesty International investigation concluding that the Israeli strike that killed Khalil and seriously wounded camerawoman Zeinab Faraj was a direct attack on civilians and should be investigated as a war crime.

Khalil was murdered in southern Lebanon on April 22, 2026 — yet total impunity remains. Fifteen other journalists have been killed by Israeli forces in Lebanon since October 2023.
