Dhaka, February 11: Under the direction of the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, 15 mobile court operations were conducted today against illegal brick kilns causing air pollution.

These operations took place in 12 districts: Lakshmipur, Cox’s Bazar, Magura, Cumilla, Chattogram, Sirajganj, Feni, Meherpur, Gazipur, Kurigram, Narayanganj, and Pirojpur. A total of 21 cases were filed, resulting in fines of 42.7 lakh taka. The kilns of 10 brickfields were demolished, completely shutting down their operations. Additionally, strict warnings were issued to five more brick kilns.

Two mobile court operations were conducted in Shariatpur and Barguna districts against the illegal production, sale, supply, and marketing of banned polythene. Five cases were filed, and fines of 13,000 taka were imposed. A total of 201 kg of banned polythene was seized. Shop owners across the country were also warned against dealing with banned polythene.

According to the Air Pollution Control Regulations 2022, two mobile court operations were conducted in Khilgaon and Paltan areas of Dhaka city against air pollution caused by construction materials. Two cases were filed, and fines of 9 thousabd taka were collected.

Authorities also issued warnings to the responsible parties.

A mobile court operation was conducted in Keraniganj, Dhaka, against the illegally operating Shah Paran Biscuit Factory. Its electricity connection was disconnected, and the factory’s operations were completely shut down.
