
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has unveiled its central committee for the 2026–2028 term, retaining Mia Golam Parwar as secretary general.
The committee was formed and sworn in during a virtual session of the party’s Central Majlis-e-Shura on Friday. The meeting was presided over by party ameer and Leader of the Opposition Shafiqur Rahman.
According to party sources, the new structure comprises four nayeb-e-ameer, seven assistant secretaries general, a 21-member Central Executive Council, a 59-member Central Majlis-e-Shura, and an 88-member Central Working Committee. The tenure of the body will run until 2028.
During the meeting, the ameer selected office-bearers in consultation with Shura members and administered their oath. Senior leaders, including the nayeb-e-ameer and assistant secretaries general, were present in person.
The announcement comes nearly three months after Rahman was re-elected party chief in November last year.
The four nayeb-e-ameer are ATM Azharul Islam, Mojibur Rahman, Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, and ANM Shamsul Islam.
Assistant secretaries general include ATM Masum, Rafiqul Islam Khan, Hamidur Rahman Azad, Abdul Halim, Muazzam Hossain Helal, Muhammad Shahjahan, and Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer.
The 21-member Central Executive Council features senior party figures and members of parliament, including the top office-bearers and several prominent leaders.
The party also highlighted women’s participation as a positive development. Of the 88-member Central Working Committee, 21 members are women, while 17 women are part of the 59-member Majlis-e-Shura.
A five-member Central Election Commission has been formed, headed by ATM Masum as chief election commissioner. Other members include Muazzam Hossain Helal, Abdur Rab, Mobarak Hossain, and AFM Abdus Sattar.
As part of organisational restructuring, the country has been divided into 14 regions with designated regional directors to strengthen grassroots operations. Key assignments include Abdul Halim for Rangpur–Dinajpur, ATM Azharul Islam for Bogura, Rafiqul Islam Khan for Rajshahi, Mobarak Hossain for Kushtia–Jashore, Md Izzat Ullah for Khulna, Muazzam Hossain Helal for Barishal, Md Shahabuddin for Mymensingh, Mia Golam Parwar for Dhaka Metropolitan, Saiful Alam Khan Milon for Dhaka North, Abdur Rab for Dhaka South, Hamidur Rahman Azad for Faridpur, Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer for Sylhet, ATM Masum for Cumilla–Noakhali, and Muhammad Shahjahan for Chattogram.
Party leaders expressed optimism that the new committee and regional reorganisation would energise organisational activities and strengthen the party’s presence across the country.
