The new BNP-led government is set to hold the first session of the National Parliament on 26 February, coinciding with Ramadan, the Parliament Secretariat confirmed.
Under Article 72(2) of the Constitution, the first session of a new Parliament must be summoned within 30 days of the official publication of general election results. While the President formally calls the session, the date and time are set based on the Prime Minister’s written advice.
The results of the 13th national election were officially gazetted on 14 February, meaning the first session must be held by 16 March. Historically, only three of the last 12 parliaments have convened their first sessions during Ramadan.
This version keeps the constitutional context, historical note, and key dates while making the narrative clearer and more concise.
