Grassroots Awami League leaders and activists have reopened their district offices in several regions, raising national flags, displaying party banners, and signalling a revival of organisational activity after months of inactivity.
These reopenings follow the 13th national election and mark renewed grassroots political engagement.
In Satkhira, Chhatra League and Jubo League members marched from Borobazar Road to the district office, raising the national and party flags for the first time in 18 months. Activists reaffirmed their commitment to political work, though the office remained locked.
In Noakhali, activists entered the district Awami League office, hung banners, and conducted a 30-minute demonstration, chanting slogans to assert party presence.
In Barguna, members reopened the district office, hoisting the national flag and displaying portraits of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. BNP leaders condemned the move, citing restrictions on party activities, and informed authorities. Police confirmed they are investigating the incidents.
Earlier, offices in several Barishal districts were reopened by members who cleaned and maintained the premises, hoisted flags, and raised banners of party leaders. Videos of these activities circulated widely on social media, highlighting the party’s return to local-level political operations.
In Patuakhali’s Doshmina Upazila, 10-12 Chhatra League and Jubo League members entered the local Awami League office, cleaned it, performed prayers, and installed portraits of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina. Party slogans were chanted, though some student leaders later vandalised and relocked the office, showing tensions within local factions.
In Chattogram, the North District Awami League office at New Market intersection was reopened after 18 months of closure.
Many offices had remained closed since 2024 following attacks during opposition-led movements, with some buildings damaged by fire or looting and furniture stolen. Police are investigating the recent reopening incidents.
