BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has warned that conspiracies are underway both domestically and internationally to strip people of their voting rights. Speaking at a BNP city unit discussion in Badda, Dhaka, Fakhrul urged people to stay vigilant, stating, “The conspiracy is not over. Efforts are being made to deprive people of their voting rights, but we will not let this happen. We will establish a government for the people by thwarting all plots.”

Fakhrul emphasized that the BNP is not yet taking to the streets, but is instead engaging with the common people by distributing Eid and Iftar items, standing by them in both joy and sorrow. “If any obstacle arises against the national interest, we will return to the streets. The people know how to fight for their demands,” he added.

He accused conspirators from both home and abroad, including from countries like the United States and France, of attempting to create divisions among the people. “We are with the people, and our politics is grounded in their support. No one can mislead us or the people of Bangladesh,” Fakhrul said.

The BNP leader stressed that the party is loyal only to Bangladesh, not to any foreign power. “BNP stands for Bangladesh, not for India, Pakistan, the USA, or the UK. Our leader Tarique Rahman has made it clear that Bangladesh comes first.”

Fakhrul also reflected on the history of political repression under the current government, saying, “Sheikh Hasina’s downfall was by Allah’s will. Around 90% of BNP leaders and activists were jailed. Awami League killed approximately 20,000 BNP members, abducted over 1,700, and falsely charged six million people. These are unparalleled events in democratic history.”

He added, “We have survived that period, and with Allah's mercy, we have emerged free from the torture imposed by Sheikh Hasina’s government.”

The event, organized by Dhaka City North BNP’s Ward-42 at Beraida Eidgah Ground in Badda, also included the distribution of Eid gifts on behalf of the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to low-income people. City North BNP Convener Aminul Haque, BNP Minority Affairs Secretary MA Qayyum, and other BNP leaders attended the event.
