Rizvi made the remarks while distributing 'Eid Gifts' to rickshaw-van and auto drivers on behalf of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman at Naya Paltan.
He criticized the image of the interim government, claiming it would be tarnished if the sacrifices made by the people during the uprising were not acknowledged. He also called on the government to announce a clear roadmap for the next general election, urging it to reassure the nation rather than continue with vague statements.
Despite the interim government not being directly elected, Rizvi noted it had widespread support from various political parties and the public. He further highlighted that workers from 122 garment factories had not received their salaries, while 150 factories had yet to pay bonuses. "The government must ensure immediate payment of wages, bonuses, and allowances," he said.
Rizvi also referred to the sacrifices made by 17 rickshaw pullers during the July-August protests, stressing that their families were now facing severe economic hardship. He called on the government to take responsibility for these families and provide jobs for eligible members.
He criticized Hasina's government for destroying the electoral system, claiming that under her rule, criminals had been allowed to serve as MPs while the honest were jailed.
Speaking at the event, Ishraque Hossain mentioned that after a prolonged legal battle, he had finally received justice in a verdict delivered after nearly five years, a decision he claimed was never possible during Hasina’s regime.
