Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid today emphasized the importance of unity in building a prosperous Bangladesh, reflecting on the country’s hard-won independence achieved through an armed struggle.

"The independence we celebrate today is the source of our pride and inspiration," Dr. Khalid said in his address as the chief guest at a 'Khatme Quran, Discussion, and Milad Mahfil' event at the south plaza of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The event was organized by the Islamic Foundation Bangladesh (IFB) to mark the occasion of the country’s Independence and National Day.

He reminded the audience that Bangladesh was born out of an armed struggle in 1971, gaining not just a piece of land, but a flag, a state, and a new identity. "We fought for our land, our flag, and our freedom. Our independence was forged in the crucible of sacrifice," Dr. Khalid added.

The Adviser called on all citizens to set aside divisions and work collectively toward the country's development. He also urged everyone to reject individuals who have looted the nation's wealth and laundered money abroad, stressing the need for accountability and transparency.

In a heartfelt tribute, Dr. Khalid prayed for the souls of the martyred freedom fighters, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice or were wounded during the Liberation War of 1971.

The event was presided over by IFB Director General Abdus Salam Khan, with Dr. Harunur Rashid, Director of the Din-e-Dawat and Culture department, also addressing the gathering.

The ceremony concluded with special prayers and Doa for the continued development and prosperity of Bangladesh.

Notable attendees included Md Abdul Hamid Khan, Director of Finance and Accounts at IFB, Md Mohiuddin, Director of Coordination, Md Bazlur Rashid, Director of Planning, and Muhammad Mohibullahil Baki, Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
