Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has stated that a fugitive political party is actively attempting to destabilize Bangladesh.

"This risk is ever-present. A fugitive party, whose leadership has either left the country or is no longer here, is making continuous efforts to disrupt the situation. This threat is constant and can emerge at any moment, in any place," Dr. Yunus told BBC Bangla in an interview published on Monday.

His remarks came in response to a question about the Army Chief’s recent statement, which warned that Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty could be at risk if all parties fail to collaborate effectively.

When asked if he was referring to the ousted Awami League as the source of the threat, Dr. Yunus confirmed, "Absolutely! It's clear. They continue to make public statements, hold speeches, and address the public. We all hear it, and people are becoming agitated."

He continued, "They are urging people to rise, to take action, and announcing programs like hartals and protests. How do you think the public will interpret this? Do you believe everything will calm down peacefully?"

Dr. Yunus also reiterated his calls for addressing past political atrocities and emphasized the need for global cooperation on the Rohingya crisis in his conversation with BBC Bangla.
