Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser

Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, announced today that the National Consensus Commission will soon initiate talks with political parties to foster dialogue and cooperation.

"We are optimistic that the discussions between the National Consensus Commission and political parties will begin shortly," Alam said during a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy this afternoon.

When asked about the interim government's efforts to ensure free and fair elections, Alam emphasized that the government is committed to creating a level playing field for all political parties. "The interim government is neutral and strives for fairness to ensure the elections are transparent and orderly," he stated.

Alam also mentioned that a roadmap for the elections has already been outlined, with the possibility of holding polls in December, provided minimal reforms are necessary, or by April of the following year at the latest.

Regarding the demands of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Alam suggested that they might be seeking a specific election date.

In addition, Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, addressed recent media reports regarding a robbery in Santhia, Pabna. He clarified that reports had been exaggerated, with police confirming that a robbery occurred involving five transports on a regional highway last night. However, law enforcement agencies responded swiftly, reaching the scene within 10 minutes.

Azad reassured the public that the interim government is working diligently to maintain law and order across the country and urged the media, as well as all citizens, to support these efforts.
