BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has resigned from his ministerial responsibilities after being nominated by the party as its presidential candidate.
Salahuddin Ahmed, the current Home Minister and a member of the BNP National Standing Committee, is set to take charge of the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Ministry, according to sources at the Secretariat.
Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anni, who currently serves as the Water Resources Minister, is expected to replace Salahuddin as Home Minister.
Fakhrul resigned from his parliamentary and administrative positions after the BNP announced his nomination for the presidency. His departure from the LGRD Ministry has prompted the government to consider a quick reshuffle to ensure administrative continuity.
Under the proposed arrangement, Salahuddin will move from the Home Ministry to LGRD, while Anni will take over the Home Ministry from Salahuddin.
The changes are expected to be formalised soon.
