BNP secretary general was speaking as the chief guest at a reception organised on the occasion of the 78th founding anniversary of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) at its auditorium in Ramna today.
Fakhrul Islam said, IEB is not just an organisation of engineers; it has been playing an important role in various aspects of Bangladesh's progress and development.
"We fought for independence, we fought for democracy, and we have repeatedly struggled to secure our rights. a new consciousness has emerged among the common people to build a new Bangladesh.” He said urging all to forge unity to build a new Bangladesh.
President of IEB Mohammad Riazul Islam presided over the event.
Several engineers and public representatives were given receptions in recognition of their special contribution to various sectors. They are Sanjida Islam (Tuli), MP, Moeenul Islam Khan (Shanto), MP, and Md. Ashraf Uddin (Bokul), MP.
Engineers, representatives of various professions, and distinguished persons from various walks of life attended the event, reports BSS.
