A rickshawpuller who was arrested during police action against the banned organization Hizb ut-Tahrir over its March for Khilafah on Friday, has been released at the intervention of Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan.

On Friday (March 7) at around 5:15 pm, Asif Mahmud took him from the DB office.

It has been reported that during the clash between the banned group Hizb ut-Tahrir and police, a rickshawpuller was seen getting involved, hitting one of the group's members. He was then arrested by joint forces at the spot. The footage of the arrest quickly spread on social media, leading many people to demand his release.

Earlier after Jumma prayers, Hizb ut-Tahrir held its March for Khilafah in the Baitul Mukarram area of the capital. The procession, which was moving from Paltan to Bijoynagar, was stopped by police.

However, the banned organization was allowed to march without interference for about 15 minutes before the police used tear gas and sound grenades, causing the Hizb ut-Tahrir members to disperse. - UNB
