Quadruplets given birth by a Jashore woman on Friday

A woman has given birth to quadruplets—three girls and one boy—at a hospital in Jashore district town.

The news of the rare birth spread quickly on Friday through social media.

The mother, Sumaiya Akter Swety, wife of Modasser Ali Tarafdar from Shutia village in Chuadanga’s Jibannagar upazila, was admitted to Jashore Ad-din Sakina Medical Hospital on Thursday.

She gave birth to the quadruplets via caesarean section in the afternoon, three years after her marriage.

Expressing his joy, Modasser Ali, an employee at a ceramics company, said, “Having four children at once is joyful. My family and I are delighted. As a middle-class family, we have concerns, but I hope my children will have a good life.”

Senior Staff Nurse Taslima Khatun said both the mother and newborns are in good health.

Dr. Manjuara Khatun, a physician at the hospital, said the newborns are in stable condition but require special care. - UNB
