Biplob Kumar Sarker, the former Joint Commissioner of Police (Admin and Intelligence-South) at the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has been suspended following his failure to report to work or seek prior approval for his absence.

The Ministry of Home Affairs' Public Security Division issued an official notification on Monday, confirming the suspension. The notification, signed by Senior Secretary Nasimul Gani on the President's behalf, stated that Sarker has been absent from his duties since August 6, 2024, without any prior communication to the relevant authorities.

As a result, Sarker has been temporarily suspended under Rule 2 (f) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, due to the unauthorized nature of his absence. The notification also specifies that he will be reassigned to the office of the Barishal Range DIG, where he will receive a food allowance as per the established guidelines.
