Woman tries to commit suicide setting herself on fire

A woman has tried to set herself and three children on fire by pouring kerosene at the National Press Club premises.



A woman has tried to set herself and three children on fire by pouring kerosene at the National Press Club premises reportedly after being failed to get justice to save ancestral home.
The incident took place around 11:00am on Saturday (October 29).
The woman is Shirin Khan, 35, wife of Junayed Ahamed Khan from Rupganj area in Narayanganj.  Their three children are Sazida Khan, 3, Zahir Khan, 10, and Sharmin Khan, 16.
Shahbagh police station sub-inspector Al Momen said that the woman was seen talking with reporters in the area. At one stage, she tried to set herself and children on fire by pouring kerosene. Meanwhile, on duty policemen managed to stop her and sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The woman claimed that she was living in Barfa area of Sonargaon in Narayanganj for eight years. But, a local Awami League leader forced them to leave her house. She got frustrated after failing to get justice from the authorities in her locality.
