In a statement issued following the release of a report by the UN's Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Prof. Yunus emphasized that he, along with the interim government and millions of Bangladeshis, is dedicated to transforming the country into one where all citizens can live in security and dignity.
The interim government also expressed gratitude to the OHCHR for conducting the most comprehensive independent investigation into the events that led to the end of the Hasina regime. According to the statement from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, the report highlighted “structural deficiencies” in the law enforcement and justice sectors, which have plagued Bangladesh under the previous administration.
Prof. Yunus stressed the importance of reforming these institutions, saying that it is essential for Bangladesh's transformation into a society where justice prevails. He called on all those within these institutions to stand firmly with justice, the law, and the people of Bangladesh by holding accountable those who have violated laws and human rights.
