The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) staged a massive rally in Dhaka on Thursday, expressing solidarity with the people of Gaza and Rafah in Palestine, while condemning the atrocities committed by Israeli forces against Palestinians. The rally aimed to denounce the ongoing mass killings and persecution inflicted on innocent Palestinians, especially women and children, by Israeli occupation forces.

The event officially kicked off at 4:00 PM with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. After brief speeches by senior BNP leaders, the rally was formally inaugurated by BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas around 5:00 PM.

In his speech, Abbas highlighted the unusually large turnout, attributing it to the widespread outrage among ordinary people over Israeli brutality. He condemned the killings and repression, stressing that the silence of global Muslim leaders in the face of such violence was deeply concerning.

Abbas emphasized that had Muslim countries united and spoken out collectively against Israel’s actions, the ongoing violence and genocide in Palestine might have been prevented. He called for a stronger global response to halt the massacre.

BNP Standing Committee Members Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Nazrul Islam Khan, and Salahuddin Ahmed also delivered strong speeches, denouncing the Israeli occupation forces for their brutal actions against the Palestinian people.

As the rally progressed, thousands of BNP leaders and activists, braving the scorching heat, marched through the streets of Nayapaltan. Supporters began gathering at the venue as early as noon, with traffic disruptions reported in areas including Kakrail, Fakirerpool, and surrounding neighborhoods.

Participants carried national flags, BNP banners, and Palestinian flags, alongside placards and festoons bearing anti-Israel slogans. The crowd chanted calls for justice and an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

From Nayapaltan, the rally proceeded through Kakrail, Shantinagar, Malibagh, and Moghbazar, eventually concluding at Bangla Motor.

In a show of solidarity, similar rallies were held in major cities across Bangladesh. The BNP had earlier announced plans to organize protests and rallies both in the capital and other cities to demand an end to the violence and to express solidarity with the Palestinian people.

These rallies came as part of the party’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness and put pressure on both domestic and international actors to take action against the Israeli aggression in Palestine.
