Dhaka, 23 Feb —The semi-finalists of both Boys and Girls section of Primary School Gold Cup football were decided today.
The semi-finals and third-place deciding match will be held on Monday and Tuesday while the final match is on Thursday at the National Stadium in Dhaka.
1Deiara Anta Bunia Government Primary School in Koira upazila of Khulna district under Khulna division, Ichaghari Government Primary School in Sunamganj Sadar of Sylhet division, Matikata Government Primary School in Vuapur upazila of Tangail district under Dhaka division and Koyarbil Government Primary School in Kutubdia upazila of Cox’s Bazar district under Chattogram division have confirmed the semi-final spot in the boys’ section.
The girls section saw Doharo Government Primary School in Shailakupa upazila of Jhenaidah district under Khulna division, Jorgacha Government Primary School in Santhia upazila of Pabna district under Rajshahi division, Tepriganj Government Primary School in Devidhar Upazila of Panchagarh district under Rangpur division and Bancharampur Model Government Primary School in Bancharampur upazila of Brahmanbaria under Chattogram division sealing their place in the last four stage.
Two matches each of boys and girls section were held today at National Bangla High School ground at Mirpur-2 in the capital like the previous day.
In boys’ section Matikata School edged past Kurigram 1 No. Government Primary School in Kurigram Sadar under Rangpur division by solitary goal while Koyarbil School also secured same margin victory over Bankerhat Government Primary School of Bhola Sadar under Barishal Division.
In girls’ section Tepriganj School beat Tholnarpar Government Primary School in Moksedpur Upazila of Gopalganj district under Dhaka division.
Bancharampur school also achieved same margin victory against TTDC Government Primary School in Mehendiganj upazila of Barishal district under Barishal division.
A total of 65,354 government primary schools — including boys and girls-- across the country took part in the tournament.
After the union, upazila, district and division phase, the national round of the tournament started with the participation of champions of eight boys' and equal number of girls' teams of eight divisions yesterday. BSS
