Fire Destroys 19 Shops, 3 Houses in Madaripur

A devastating fire early Friday morning destroyed 19 shops and three houses in the City Super Market, located in Madaripur district headquarters.


According to Nur Mohammad, the station officer of Madaripur Fire Service, the fire began due to an electrical short circuit at a hardware store. Upon receiving the alert, six firefighting units from Madaripur and nearby Shariatpur swiftly responded, working for three hours to control the blaze.

The fire affected a range of establishments, including eight cosmetics shops, three hardware stores, three warehouses, a computer shop, and three residential houses.

Trader Mohammad Suman, one of the affected business owners, estimated the damage to be around Tk 7 crore, with significant losses to valuable goods.
