Three members of a family suffered severe burn injuries in a fire caused by a gas leak in Narayanganj on Friday morning.

The victims were identified as Maidul, 24, his wife Beauty, 24, and their eight-year-old son Maruf. They are residents of Narayanganj Sadar upazila.

They were rescued with burns and taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, said Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, a resident surgeon of the institute.

He said the condition of all three victims was critical. Maidul suffered burns on 85 percent of his body, Beauty 80 percent, and Maruf 90 percent, reports UNB.

They are currently undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the physician said.
