Army Deployed at Oil Depots Amid Supply Concerns

The government on Monday ordered the deployment of troops from the Bangladesh Army at major oil storage depots across the country to prevent any untoward incidents amid growing concerns over fuel supply.

In a statement, the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources said several oil storage facilities have recently experienced unusually high demand from dealers, making it difficult to meet the sudden surge in orders.

Officials said the heightened demand has created pressure on the distribution system in some locations, prompting precautionary measures to ensure smooth operations and maintain security at key fuel depots.

Sources at oil distribution companies warned that the situation could lead to disorder at major storage facilities if the demand continues to exceed normal levels.

Authorities said the deployment of army personnel is intended to maintain order, safeguard the depots and ensure uninterrupted fuel distribution.
