
The Election Commission (EC) has sent postal ballots to 376,309 Bangladeshi expatriate voters worldwide, enabling them to take part in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election and the upcoming referendum.
Salim Ahmad Khan, team leader of the Out of Country Voting System Development and Implementation (OCV-SDI) project, confirmed the dispatch, which took place over the past 10 days. He said ballots were sent yesterday (Sunday) and during the preceding nine days to voters across multiple countries.
Khan expressed hope that in-country postal voter registration, including government employees, election officials, and voters in legal custody, may reach one million. The number of registered expatriate voters is expected to surpass 600,000.
According to EC sources, 37,612 postal ballots were sent yesterday. On Saturday, Saudi Arabia alone received 45,550 ballots. Earlier, on Friday, 57,360 ballots were dispatched worldwide, with 22,000 going to Saudi Arabia.
On Thursday, the EC sent 10,999 ballots to the United Arab Emirates, 3,500 to the United Kingdom, 900 to Kuwait, and 17,500 to Saudi Arabia. Overall, Saudi Arabia received the largest share, with 122,393 ballots dispatched.
The EC continues to ensure timely delivery of postal ballots, aiming to facilitate smooth participation of Bangladeshi voters living abroad.
