Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Saturday thwarted an attempt by Border Security Force (BSF) of India to push 20 people into Bangladesh through Chouka border in Shibganj upazila of Chpainawabganj district.

Lt Col Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury, commanding officer of BGB's Mahananda 59 Battalion, said the BSF troops tried to push the group into Bangladesh through the border area, reports UNB.

But members of the Chouka Border Outpost (BOP) intervened and prevented the attempt, he added.

Currently 20 individuals are staying inside Indian territory along the zero line, he said.
