Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has congratulated the Election Commission on announcing the schedule for the 13th national election and the referendum on implementing the July Charter, calling it a historic milestone in Bangladesh’s democratic journey.

“With this schedule, Bangladesh has reached an important milestone in its democratic journey. Following the historic people’s uprising, the country is moving forward on a new path. This election and referendum will strengthen that path, amplify the voice of the people, and solidify the foundation of a new Bangladesh,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the Election Commission would carry out its constitutional responsibilities independently, impartially, and professionally. He added that the interim government would provide full support to ensure that both the election and referendum are conducted in a festive, participatory, and fully fair manner.

Addressing political parties, candidates, civil society, and citizens, the Chief Adviser urged, “View this election and referendum as an initiative for national unity. Respect differing opinions, maintain a peaceful environment, and uphold democratic conduct to ensure stability in the days ahead.”

He added, “Bangladesh now stands at the threshold of a new future. With active participation and responsible conduct from all, I am confident we can build a modern, just, and prosperous nation.”
