As in previous election cycles, the local government elections will be held in phases, although the exact dates have yet to be finalised, according to sources.
Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud said November through February are comparatively conducive months for holding the elections.
He said the election schedule would be finalised after taking into consideration Durga Puja, Ramadan, public examinations and annual school examinations.
The EC had earlier planned to start the local government elections in October but is now considering November for the first phase, the commissioner said.
The election schedule will be announced 45 days before polling, Masud added.
