16,000 yaba tablets seized in Ukhiya
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 16,000 yaba tablets and arrested a suspected drug trafficker from a private car at Shilkhali checkpost in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar.
The detainee was identified as Md Ismail, 33, son of Nurul Bashar of Chhoto Habirpara village under Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar, said a BGB press release issued here this morning.
A team of Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB) searched a private car travelling from Teknaf to Cox's Bazar at around 3:40pm on Wednesday.
During the search, BGB narcotics detection dog Henry detected drugs concealed inside the car's cylinder.
The team subsequently recovered eight mini packets containing 16,000 yaba tablets, the release said.
The BGB team also seized the private car allegedly used to transport the drugs and a mobile phone, reports BSS.
During preliminary interrogation, Ismail reportedly told the BGB that he had collected the yaba tablets in Teknaf and was taking them to Cox's Bazar to sell them at a higher price, the BGB added.
