Housewife dies falling of a picnic boat in Sirajganj river
Sirajganj, August 28 - A 40-year-old housewife met a tragic end after accidently falling off a picnic boat in the Ichamati River in Kamarkhand upazila of Sirajganj on Monday.
The deceased Sufia Khatun was wife of Sirajul Islam of Bhodroghat village under the upazila.
Rezaul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kamarkhand police station, said workers of a local textile mill were going to a picnic spot in Shahjadpur upazila of the district by boat in the morning.
Though Sufia was not an employee of the factory, she in association with her sister-in-law who is a staff of the factory, took the chance to board on the picnic team.
She fell off the boat in the river when her legs accidently slipped, he said, adding that locals retrieved the body from the river after a while.
The body was handed over to the family without autopsy upon their request, the OC said. - UNB
