Nepal Flood Death Toll Rises to 359

The death toll from devastating floods along the Nepal-Tibet border has risen to 359, Nepal Police said on Thursday, a day after the disaster struck the Himalayan region.
“As of 5:00pm Thursday, 359 people have died,” Nepal Police said in a statement.
The floods, triggered by a glacial collapse and massive debris flow, swept through communities in northern Nepal, destroying homes, roads and other infrastructure. Rescue teams are continuing their search for hundreds of people reported missing.
In Tibet, Chinese authorities reported three deaths following a mudslide at a border hub. This brings the combined death toll in Nepal and Tibet to at least 362.
The disaster has also severely disrupted transport and power infrastructure, while authorities remain on alert for further flooding caused by an upstream blockage. Rescue and relief operations are continuing in the affected areas.
