Germany today congratulated Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman on his election victory, commending Bangladeshi voters for meaningful democratic participation and expressing readiness to work closely with the new government and parliament.

“We congratulate Tarique Rahman and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on the election victory,” read a message, issued by the German embassy in Dhaka.

The German government also praised the active participation of the Bangladeshi people in the electoral process.

“We also commend the people of Bangladesh for their participation in the electoral process — a meaningful expression of democratic engagement — and extend our congratulations to all newly elected Members of Parliament,” the statement added.

Germany expressed its commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Bangladesh under the newly elected leadership, reports BSS.

“Germany looks forward to working closely with the new government and the Jatiya Sangsad to further strengthen our political and economic ties, and to continue supporting Bangladesh on its path of democratic reforms and development,” the embassy said.
