CA’s visit to China will be a milestone: Envoy

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen has said Chief Adviser Prof Mohammad Yunus visit to China would be successful and productive.


"It will be very successful, productive and a milestone visit with some announcements,” he said when a journalist approached him after his meeting with foreign secretary Md Jashim Uddin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here.

"We are working very closely with Bangladesh....we are still discussing," he said adding, "Wait and see. We are still working on it."

The Ambassador said this is something between Bangladesh and China as the two countries are celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations.

Later talking to reporters, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain said no agreement will be signed during the visit but several MoUs are likely to be inked.

Chief Adviser Professor Yunus is scheduled to leave for China on March 26 to attend the Boao Forum for Asia Conference in Hainan Province.

On March 27, he will deliver a speech at the conference's opening plenary session and may meet with China's Executive Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang.

On March 28, the Chief Adviser is set to meet President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

He is also likely to visit a high-tech enterprise under Huawei and give an interview with a leading Chinese media outlet.
Peking University will confer an honorary doctorate on Dr. Yunus on March 29.

The chief adviser is expected to return home the same day.
