Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday at the Prime Minister's Office in Islamabad, where they engaged in high-level talks focusing on the ongoing Gaza crisis and explored opportunities to strengthen bilateral trade and cooperation between the two nations.

The two leaders co-chaired a session on enhancing strategic collaboration, underscoring the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and diplomatic ties that bind Turkey and Pakistan.

During a televised ceremony, Erdogan and Sharif witnessed the signing of 24 agreements and a memorandum of understanding aimed at boosting trade and economic relations. The agreements cover a wide range of sectors, from commerce and industry to technology and defense.

Erdogan, sitting alongside Sharif, pledged to encourage Turkish businesses to explore opportunities with Pakistani counterparts, emphasizing the potential for growth in economic ties. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Pakistan for its unwavering support following the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey two years ago, claiming thousands of lives.

“We have agreed to further strengthen our bilateral relations and reaffirmed our commitment to supporting the Palestinian people,” Erdogan stated. He emphasized Turkey’s joint efforts with Pakistan in advocating for Palestinian rights on global platforms like the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The Turkish President also condemned recent proposals suggesting the relocation of Palestinians from Gaza, calling them “unlawful and morally unacceptable.” He stressed the importance of maintaining a steadfast position in support of the Palestinian cause, particularly during such challenging times.

Prime Minister Sharif reciprocated the sentiment, commending Erdogan for his leadership and dedication to advocating for Palestinian rights on the global stage.

In a display of warmth and solidarity, Erdogan was warmly welcomed by the Pakistani people, with crowds dressed in traditional Turkish and Pakistani attire lining the streets. As his convoy passed, the jubilant crowds danced to rhythmic drumbeats, waving flags of both nations.

The visit began with a cordial reception at Sharif’s office, where Erdogan and his wife, Emine Erdogan, were greeted with a ceremonial guard of honor. The national anthems of both Turkey and Pakistan were played, setting the tone for the successful diplomatic exchange between the two nations.
