Bangladesh and Bhutan have discussed strengthening bilateral trade and cooperation, alongside issues related to the SAARCFINANCE working group, during a meeting between their central bank governors on the sidelines of the ongoing 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group here.

Governor Yangchen Tshogyel of the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan (RMA) paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman today to exchange views on matters of mutual interest, according to a Bangladesh Bank press release issued today.

The meeting focused on issues related to the SAARCFINANCE working group, as well as bilateral trade and cooperation between Bangladesh and Bhutan.

Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Dr Md Habibur Rahman and RMA Deputy Governor Ms Uygen Choden were also present at the meeting.

Both sides considered the meeting successful.
