Dutch FM praises Bangladesh govt's reform measures
Netherlands Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen today praised the reform measures introduced by the new government of Bangladesh as the two countries discussed ways to further deepen bilateral cooperation.
He made the remarks during a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman in Manila on the sidelines of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), said a foreign ministry's press release here.
During the meeting, the two foreign ministers reviewed Bangladesh-Netherlands relations and discussed ways to advance cooperation across a range of areas of mutual interest.
Their discussions focused particularly on cooperation in the circular economy, legal migration and technology transfer for delta development.
Dr Rahman also raised concerns over delays in visa processing and the increasing rejection of visa applications by Bangladeshi students who have secured admission to universities in the Netherlands.
He requested the Dutch side to address the issue to facilitate Bangladeshi students seeking higher education in the Netherlands.
The Bangladesh foreign minister also raised the issue concerning Bangladeshi Apostille documents and requested their withdrawal.
The Netherlands foreign minister assured Dr Rahman that he would look into the matters with a view to reaching a satisfactory resolution.
The meeting took place during Dr Rahman's engagements in Manila surrounding the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the TAC, reports BSS.
