Bangladesh and the European Union (EU) today discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations, with particular focus on expanding trade and advancing cooperation on key regional and global issues.

Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman held the discussion with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Manila, said the foreign ministry here.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on ways to deepen Bangladesh-EU relations and enhance bilateral trade and economic engagement.

They also discussed reform of the United Nations and reaffirmed the importance of upholding multilateralism in addressing contemporary global
challenges.

The two sides also underscored the need for continued international support towards resolving the protracted Rohingya crisis.

Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir was also present at the meeting, reports BSS.
