Shama thanks Algeria for hydrocarbon cooperation

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam on Monday requested enhanced cooperation in the energy sector to ensure long term energy security and thanked the Algerian authorities for their keen interest in expanding collaboration in the hydrocarbon sector.


Both sides discussed avenues to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, particularly in the energy, infrastructure, pharmaceutical, shipbuilding and manpower sectors.

Ambassador of Algeria to Bangladesh Abdelouahab Saidani paid a courtesy call on the State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discussed the issues.

The State Minister underscored the importance of enhancing people-to-people contacts, including cultural and sports exchanges, mutual visa waiver agreement and stressed the need for regular bilateral engagements and high-level visits to further deepen the partnership with Algeria.

The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and growing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Algeria.

The State Minister also emphasized the importance of increased collaboration in the education sector and welcomed the ongoing process of establishing a Joint Consultative Commission.

The Ambassador reiterated Algeria’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation across all sectors, including the recruitment of skilled and semi-skilled manpower, as well as collaboration in energy, education, and agriculture. He assured Algeria’s continued support for Bangladesh.

The Ambassador reaffirmed Algeria’s continued support for Bangladesh and expressed strong commitment to further strengthening the brotherly relations between the two countries, reports UNB.
