A teenager was killed in Sylhet’s Badambagicha area late Thursday (Nov. 27) following a clash between two groups.

The victim, Shah Mahmud Hasan Tapu, 17, was the son of Shah Enamul Haque and lived in Udayan 40/2, Badambagicha, Sylhet.

Police said the conflict between the groups escalated around 11:30 p.m., when a member of one faction, Mohammad Zahid Hasan, son of Shafiqul Islam from Khasdobir area, stabbed Tapu repeatedly. Tapu was taken to Osmani Medical College Hospital by family members but died at 6 a.m. Friday.

Following the incident, police conducted a raid and detained Zahid along with two of his associates — Anik Mia, son of Abdul Monir from Loharpara, and Juned Ahmad, son of Bashirul Islam.

Airport Police Station Officer-in-Charge Syed Anisur Rahman said the victim’s body has been sent to Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. No formal complaints have yet been filed in the case, but legal proceedings are underway, reports UNB.
