Auto-rickshaw driver killed, vehicle snatched in M'singh

A 38-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was killed and his vehicle snatched by miscreants in Mymensingh on Wednesday night.


The deceased was identified as Masud Mia, son of Khorshed Ali of Bhalukjan area under Fulbaria municipality in the district.

According to police and locals, Masud took an auto-rickshaw from a garage in Akua area of the district headquarters around 4 pm.

Around 9:30 pm, his bloodstained body was found on the Bypass in Bhati Barera area of the city, they said.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College morgue. Members of the Criminal Investigation Department’s crime scene unit later collected evidence from the spot and the morgue.

Additional Superintendent of Police Abdullah Al Mamun said the miscreants stabbed Masud with sharp weapons in an isolated area near Notre Dame College Road.

They later fled with the vehicle, he said, adding that police are working to determine the motive behind the murder.
