Suspected robber beaten to death in Gazipur

A suspected robber was killed and another injured in a lynch-mob attack at Nayapara in Sadar upazila of Gazipur district early Wednesday.


The deceased was identified as Haidar Islam, 51, son of Soleman Bepary of Langadu upazila of Rangamati district while the injured one was identified as Alamin, 25 of Feni district.

Quoting witnesses, Touhid Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Joydebpur Police Station, said some 7-8  men gathered in the area allegedly for committing robbery at the dead of night.

Sensing presence of the men, local people raised hue and cry and managed to catch two individuals  while the others managed to flee the scene, reports UNB. 

Later, local people gave them beat them up, leaving one killed on the spot and another injured.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
