A woman was murdered by her husband during Eid celebrations over family feud  in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat district.

Amy Begum, daughter of Israk Hossain of Kuchlibari union, was found dead in her home in ward number 6 on Saturday morning, said Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Patgram police station.

The accused Hasibul has since gone into hiding.

According to local sources, the couple had been embroiled in a family feud for some time. On the morning of the incident, Hasibul allegedly attacked Amy with a sharp weapon, slitting her throat before fleeing the scene.

Family members noticed her body and informed the police immediately.

On information, police arrived at the scene and  recovered the body.

OC Mizanur Rahman said that initial investigations suggest the murder was motivated by a family dispute, reports UNB.

An operation is underway to apprehend Hasibul, and two people have already been detained for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation, added the OC.
