The injured included three policemen and one navy officer, according to Azam Khan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonadanga Police Station. Additionally, four members of the Kala Lavlu group sustained injuries during the clash.
The confrontation began after Sonadanga police, acting on a tip-off, launched an operation in the Arambagh area around midnight. Authorities suspected that members of the Kala Lavlu group were holding a secret meeting in a building near Arambagh Mosque.
Upon the police's arrival, the suspected militants opened fire, sparking an intense gunbattle. Navy personnel soon joined the operation, escalating the exchange of gunfire, which lasted until 3:30 AM.
During the skirmish, three policemen and one navy officer were wounded. The injured law enforcement officers were quickly transported to the police and navy hospitals for treatment. Meanwhile, the criminals were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
In addition to the casualties, the joint forces managed to detain 11 members of the Kala Lavlu group. The detainees were identified as Sheikh Palash, Kala Lavlu, Ariful, Fazle Rabbi, Sharif, Imranuzzaman, Ripon, Imran, Saikat Rahman, Sahidul Islam, and Golam Rabbani.
Authorities also seized a significant arsenal, including three pistols, a single-barrel shotgun, a sawn-off shotgun, a Chinese axe, numerous rounds of ammunition, and seven motorcycles.
The operation highlights the ongoing efforts to combat criminal organizations in the region and ensure the safety of local communities.
