Two drug peddlers sent to jail in Narsingdi

A mobile court in Raipura upazila of the district conducted an anti-drug drive and sentenced two individuals including a drug trader to different terms.


The drive was carried out at around 9:00 pm on Friday (May 1) at the premises of Humayun Sadhu's shrine in the Khanabari area of Raipura, following a tip-off.

During the operation, identified drug trader Najma Begum (45) was arrested with narcotics. The mobile court later sentenced her to a fine of Tk 100 and one year of simple imprisonment.

At the same time, another person was arrested while consuming cannabis. He was sentenced to a fine of Tk 100 and seven days of simple imprisonment.

Members of Raipura Police Station and Ansar assisted in the operation, reports BSS.

The mobile court was conducted by Raipura Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Masud Rana.
