Joty stars in Red’s victory over Green in Women’s Challenge

Dhaka, 18 Aug —Skipper Nigar Sultana Joty struck a 78 not out as Red team beat Green by 32 runs in the opening game of the Women’s Challenge Cup today at BKSP-3 ground.

A total of three teams are taking part in the tournament as part of the National Women’s team’s preparation for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. BD boys U15 is the other team of the tournament.

Despite Joty’s valiant knock, Red were bowled out for just 144 in 47.4 overs after being asked to bat first. Fahima Khatun was the other notable scorer with 22.

Fahima Khatun and Marufa Akter then shared eight wickets between them as Red bowlers made this total winning one, wrapping Green team up for 112 in 40.1 overs. Both of them scalped four wickets apiece.

Opener Farzana Haque Pinky was the top-scorer for Green with 30.

Red will take on BD Boys U15 team in the next game of the tournament on Wednesday at the same venue.BSS
