Dhaka, 8 Feb - Khulna Tigers captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz was adjudged best player of the 11th edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) following his superb allround performance.
He also led his side astutely to finish as third best in the tournament. Khulna came to the playoff as the last team but won the Eliminator game against Rangpur Riders. However, they lost to Chittagong Kings in the Qualifier-2 game to miss the final narrowly.
Fortune Barishal eventually became champions for the second straight time after beating Chittagong Kings by three wickets in a thrilling contest. This year, there was increase in BPL prize money also.
Fortune Barishal: The franchise has become the champion for the second
consecutive time and received Taka 2.50 crore which is Taka 50 lakh more than
the previous time.
Chittagong Kings: Chittagong got Taka 1.50 crore for being the runner-up.
Khulna Tigers: Khulna finished as third best team to get Taka 60 lakh.
Rangpur Riders: Rangpur, who were the first to secure the playoffs after
securing eight straight wins, became the fourth. They got Taka 40 lakh.
Tamim Iqbal: Tamim became the man of the final after hitting a whirlwind 29
ball-54. His knock was instrumental in sealing the three-wicket victory. He
got Taka 5 lakh.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz: Miraz was named best cricketer of the BPL after scoring
355 runs in 14 matches with the bat and taking 13 wickets with the bowling.
He received Taka 10 lakh.
Tanzid Hasan Tamim: Tanzid was selected as the emerging cricketer of this
season, an award which is introduced for the first time in BPL. He scored 485
runs in 12 matches with one century. He also struck 36 sixes, which is
highest by a player in this season and overall second in BPL history behind
Chris Gayle's 47 sixes. He got Taka 3 lakh
Naim Sheikh: Naim who rediscovered him in this BPL scored 511 runs with one
century and three fifties. He won the best batsman award and received Taka 5
lakh.
Taskin Ahmed: Taskin was the best bowler with 25 wickets in 12 matches.
Taskin tally is highest by a bowler in BPL history. He received Taka 5 lakh.
Mushfiqur Rahim: Mushfiqur was adjudged the best fielder with 12 catches and
2 stumpings. He received Taka 3 lakh.
